“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32). Today is Memorial Day. A day set aside to celebrate the memory of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, their lives, for our freedom. And we should not forget their sacrifice, however, true freedom comes from knowing the Truth, Jesus Christ. Jesus said; “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6). The freedom we enjoy as Americans was not cheap. We enjoy our freedom as Americans because over 1 million brave soldiers paid for our freedoms with their blood. But, our national freedom pales in comparison to the cost of our spiritual freedom. The cost of our spiritual freedom was the death of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross at Calvary. It was there that “he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5). As we celebrate Memorial Day and the freedom we have, let us not the forget the sacrifice of Jesus to give us true freedom.
Have a Blessed Day!
