“Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.” (Romans 6:11-12). Someone has once said, “A true Christian desires to be free from sin not to sin freely.” As Christians, we are going to sin, however, we have in us something stronger than the sin. The Holy Spirit, who gives us that desire not to sin. When Paul said “reckon yourselves,” it means to think of yourselves dead to sin. You must believe in your heart and mind that you are dead to sin. The words “Let not” means that you are in control of the sin. You can either succumb to the sin or resist it and be holy. What did God say “Be ye holy; for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:16). Allow the Holy Spirit to control you and resist the sin. Believe the words of 1 Corinthians 15:57 “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Have a Blessed Day!
