“And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world” (1 John 2:2). This verse speaks of Christ’s work on the cross. The word “propitiation” means satisfaction or appeasement. In other words, Christ’s death on the cross satisfied God’s demand for justice and averted God’s holy wrath against believers sin.
