“And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.” (1 Samuel 2:26). Samuel was faithful in his service to God and man as he grew. This is in stark contrast to sons of Eli; Hophini and Phineas. These two men were very wicked in the sight of God. They did not even know the LORD, and they abhorred His sacrifices by taking whatever piece of the sacrifice they wanted, including the fat which belonged to God. They even committed sexual immorality with the women who served at the Tabernacle. But while being around this on a daily basis, Samuel remained faithful, not tainted by the worldly actions and character of these evil men. Are you living a faithful life for God or has the world crept in, and God has become less important? James said this about our relationship with the world; “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (James 4:4). Don’t be a friend of this world and the enemy of God. Ask God to search your heart and show you what has taken His place in your life. Repent and return to Him. We need to grow on in the LORD and find favor with Him and also with men.
Have a Blessed Day!
