Sharing God’s Love

1 John 4_20-21

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.” (1 John 4:20-21). Do we truly love one another? Love is an action verb. As we go through the day, the love of God that is in us should manifest itself in how we treat others. There is a hymn we sing called “I Love Thee” and it sums up these verses; “I love Thee, I love Thee, I love Thee, my Lord; I love Thee, my Savior, I love Thee, my God: I love Thee, I love Thee, and that Thou dost know; BUT HOW MUCH I LOVE THEE MY ACTIONS WILL SHOW.” Show the love of God today by loving others.

Glory In The LORD

Jer 9_24

Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.” (Jeremiah 9:23-24). Just like in the days of Jeremiah, there are those today who glory in their own wisdom, their own strength, and their own riches. Their lives revolve around what they have and what they do. But we are called to glory in that we know and understand the Lord. The only way you can know the Lord is through a relationship with His Son Jesus Christ. When we know and understand the Lord, we will see His lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness. Notice it says He delights in these, then we are to delight in these also, by loving one another, judging rightly, and living holy lives. What are you glorying in today? God should be the center of all you are and all you do. Paul wrote; “But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 10:17).

What Does God Require?

Micah 6_8A

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6:8). This verse communicates to us three things God requires of us, and they are good in His eyes. First, to do justly. We are to be fair to everyone; to treat them as we want to be treated. Secondly, we are to love mercy. The word for mercy (hesed) is also translated lovingkindness. So we are to love lovingkindness and show this loyal love to others. Finally, we are to walk humbly with our God. We are to live our lives prayerfully trusting and depending on God rather than relying on ourselves. Remember this is a commitment that the Lord requires. It is not merely something we do if we feel like it. Put this verse in your heart and live it.

Love Of God

1 John 3_16

“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.” (1 John 3:16). When you think of the love of God, do you see Jesus on the cross? Do you see Christ giving His Life, by dying in your place and for your sins? Because Jesus gave His life for us, we are to do the same. We are to continually lay down our lives for our brethren. Each day you and I are to demonstrate to them that same self-sacrificing love. Be prepared to share His love today whether in word or deed. Let the Love of God flow from you.

Be like Jesus

Eph 4_32

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:32). As  I read this verse, I realized that this kind of behavior is almost non-existent in our society. There are so many people with hatred and bitterness toward each other. There are even times in our lives when it is difficult for us to be kind and tenderhearted to people. It is even more difficult for us to forgive someone who has wronged us. But we are to be kind to all, tenderhearted, and forgive one another; why? Because God has forgiven us freely in Christ. Jesus said; “But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.” (Mark 11:26). As you meet people today, be kind and tenderhearted toward them, and even forgive them if needed. Let the love of Christ flow from you today.
