Godly Children

Psa 4_3A

“But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.” (Psalm 4:3). In writing this Psalm, David knew that God Himself had set apart certain ones specifically for Himself.  Those certain ones are the godly. When it comes to salvation, God is no respecter of persons. All people desiring to be saved must repent of their sins and accept Christ as Lord and Savior. When we make Him Lord and Savior God declares us godly and we have the confidence that God will hear us when we call. This means those who are set apart God hears because they have a desire in their hearts to put God first in their lives. He is truly Lord of all. Are you one of God’s godly Children? Turn Back To God

Zech 1_3

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.” (Zechariah 1:3). Robert Robinson wrote the words to the song “Come Thy Fount Of Every Blessing.” In the lyrics we find these words “Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it; Prone to leave the God I love:” Have you wandered away from God? The Lord issues a clear and straightforward command; “Turn back to me.” A plain and simple call to anyone who desires to restore the fellowship with God that was broken by our sin. It is up to you to freely give your love to Him. Repent and turn back to God, and He will turn back to you.

A Barrier To God

Isa 59_2“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:2). In the preceding verse, God told His people that He can save anyone, and He can hear any prayer. However, the problem is not with God; the problem is the sin of the people. Many things have changed, but God’s mind regarding sin has not. God says because of your sin; He will hide His face from you and will not hear your prayer. Sin still separates sinful man from God, but He so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever receives Him as Savior and Lord will not perish, but will have eternal life. Whatever is separating you from God today, confess your sin and repent. Restore your relationship and come home to Him.

Is God Listening?

Hebrews 13_5

Do you sometimes wonder if God is even listening to your prayers? There are times in our Christian walk that we seem all alone, so barren, God is just not speaking or moving in our lives. Let me assure you, God is always there. Hebrews 13:5 tells us; “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” But why doesn’t He answer? Psalm 66:18 gives some insight on what may be wrong in our lives, it reads, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” There are times that we allow sin to creep into our lives. This sin becomes a barrier between us and God. Isaiah wrote; “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:2). What is in your life that has separated you from God, so He cannot hear you. Confess your sins today and repent. This means to tell God you are sorry for your sin and to turn away from the sin and not to do it again. Get your heart right with God today and begin anew with your prayers to Him. He will hear you.

Repentance

Jer 17_10A

I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings” (Jeremiah. 17:10). Do the deeds, or actions of other people cause you to wonder about their relationship to God. This verse reveals to us that we are an “open book” to God, absolutely nothing is hidden from His view. However, we are also told to repent of our sins. Peter wrote, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9). Repentance is personal, no one can accomplish this for another. Thank God that He cares enough to search our heart, examine our mind and bring conviction when we need His forgiveness. Tell God “like it is.” He already knows your heart. He is just waiting for you and me to admit our need.

Run The Race

Hebrews 12_1A“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,” (Hebrews 12:1). The author of Hebrews refers to life as a race that we are running. As we run our race, there are hindrances to our running. What is the sin that so easily entangles you or me? Is it that we are jealous of what someone else has? Is it envy? Is it a Critical spirit? Is it hatred? Is it lust? Pride? Whatever sin it is, it must be stripped off and left behind! As long as you carry this sin, it will weigh you down, divert your attention, sap your strength or dampen your enthusiasm for the things of God. Repent of your sin and ask God to forgive you, then get to running.
