Do You Know?

1 John 5_13A.jpg

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” (1 John 5:13). In talking to people about their salvation, I have heard many say, I hope I am saved or I think I am saved. This passage clearly states that you may know you have eternal life. The verb “may know” means it is settled and is absolute knowledge. In other words, there is no doubting, once you know, you know. If there is doubt in you, then I believe you need to make sure that Christ resides in your heart. If you need to know for sure and need help, go to my website http://www.T4GM.org and click the link “How To Become A Christian?” Be sure you know Christ as your Savior and Lord.

Trust The Lord

Eph 6_12A

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12). Do you struggle to try to obey God and resist the devil? Trying to become a mature Christian is not easy and it doesn’t happen overnight. If you as a child of God trying to be obedient to God, then you are in for a fight. Your battle is not against those around you or even yourself. Our fight is against unseen forces of darkness that fight to pull your heart and mind away from a devotional love for Jesus Christ. Try putting this verse into practice “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6). Trust God and let Him fight for you.

God Will Provide

Gen 22_8A

“And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.” (Genesis 22:7-8). God told Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac. Isaac was wondering where the lamb for the sacrifice was. Abraham said that God would provide, and God did indeed provide. Abraham was told by an angel not to harm the boy and as he turned around, there was a ram in the thicket. Almost 2000 years later another Father would lead His Son up a hill. This time there would be no reprieve, no ram in the thicket. Jesus would die on a hill called Calvary. He would die for the sins of the world. Heavenly Minded

2 Cor 5_8A

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:6-8). Paul was heavenly minded, but he was still aware there was a race to be finished. As believers, our minds should be the same. While we focus our minds on God, we have a race to run, a battle to fight also here on this earth. Every morning as we are awakened, we need to put on the spiritual armor in order to fight that battle. Putting on the Belt of Truth, Breastplate of Righteousness, feet shod with the Gospel of Peace to share, Shield of Faith, Helmet of Salvation and The Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. And finally, we bathed all of this in Prayer. We can be that heavenly minded because of Jesus. Remember, “If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). Stay focused on heavenly things, stay focused on God!

Dominated By Christ

Rom 6_14

For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” (Romans 6:14). What has dominion over you? Does anger, pride, laziness, greed or complaining? If any sin is dominating you, then perhaps you need to ask yourself, “Am I really converted.” Sin will be present in our lives, but it will not dominate our lives. We have been set free in Christ Jesus; “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8). By our faith in Christ, we have been changed. No longer are we under the law striving to please God by doing what we think is right. We are under Grace because of what Jesus did at Calvary. Don’t let sin dominate you, let Jesus dominate your life.

Walk As Light

Eph 5_8a

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:” (Ephesians 5:8). We are encouraged in this verse to walk as children of light. Paul tells us we were darkness, not in darkness. When we receive Christ as our Lord and Savior we become light in the Lord. John wrote; “In him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” (John 1:4-5). Undoubtedly, these believers were not walking as children of light because Paul had to remind them. As you go through your day, will you reflect the light of Christ? Walk as children of Light.

Living In The Spirit

Rom 8_5A

“For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit” (Romans 8:5). Our flesh will be tempted. When temptation strikes how do we react? Do we give in to Satan’s devices and allow our human nature to dominate, or do we conquer them? There is an answer; the power to escape the snare of Satan is God’s gift; His indwelling Holy Spirit. Jesus was tempted in ALL points, just as we, but He overcame because He lived His human, fleshly life by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. TEMPTED IN ALL POINTS, just as we, Yet, without sin, because His mind was set to honor God. If you desire to live, the victorious life in Christ then “be filled with the Spirit.” (Ephesians 5:18)
