The Real Beauty Of Jesus

Isa 53_5

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:3-5). Have you ever thought about the beauty of Jesus, what did He look like? We have many paintings of Christ, however, these portraits portray Jesus as the artist sees Him. The Scripture from Isaiah paints a different portrait, and it doesn’t sound very lovely. There wasn’t anything out of the ordinary about Christ. Jesus didn’t come earth to win a beauty contest, or to show off His muscles or His tanned body. He came to die! He came to be wounded for our transgressions, to be bruised for our iniquities. So, next time you examine a painting or picture of Christ, look beyond that and see the true beauty of Jesus at Calvary.

Worshiping God

Psa 111_1

Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.” (Psalm 111:1). Many of us attend church every Sunday. We go to Sunday School then proceed to the worship service and sing the hymns and praises to God. We also pray and listen to the message from the minister. But have we worshiped? Many come to worship God and expect to leave encouraged, lifted up, or happy and that is well and good. However, worshiping is not about what we receive but about giving ourselves to God. The psalmist wrote that we should praise God with our whole heart. Paul contributes to this about worship; “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” (Romans 12:1). You are to present your whole bodies to God in spiritual worship. Next time you come before God to worship, don’t expect anything, just sacrifice yourself to Him and you will be blessed.

Praise The Lord

Psa 108_8

Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!” (Psalm 107:8) The psalmist repeats this verse four times in this chapter to remind all men that they should praise the Lord for His goodness and His wonderful works. When was the last time you just praised God for all He has done for you? Look around you and see His blessings; your family, possessions, and your life. If you are reading this, God has awakened you out of your sleep; He has got you out of bed and given you a new day. As the psalmist wrote; “O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth . Let the redeemed of the LORD say so” (Psalm 107:1-2). If you are redeemed, then praise God for His goodness and His wonderful works toward you.

Meditate On God

Psa 104_34

I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.” (Psalm 104:33-34). Have you ever just taken an hour or so to meditate on God and His goodness toward you? Have you ever just burst forth in praise to Him? I believe the majority of Christian do not spend enough time with God. They don’t have that intimate moment with the Father, Son, and The Holy Spirit. Take time today to meditate on God, you will find it to be so sweet. As long as you live, be glad in the Lord and sing praises to Him.

Praise The Lord

Psa 96_2-3

Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.” (Psalm 96:2-3). This psalm is a call to praise God. But in doing so, we are to proclaim His salvation to a lost and dying world. We are to show them His glory and all His wonders. Take a moment to let your heart meditate on how you are going to reflect Jesus. How will you share His salvation? Verse 9 of this Psalm says “O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.” One day the whole earth will reverence God and Christ, but until then we have to show them His glory and salvation so that they may fear the Lord. Jesus said; “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16. Be a witness of God today, sing and praise His name.

The Wisdom Of God

Psa 90_12

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12). Moses realized our lives are short and that we should number our days. We should use our time wisely and apply our hearts to the wisdom of God. This heart of wisdom comes from prayer and spending time in God’s Word. The Psalmist wrote; “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.” (Psalm 111:10). Spend time today on your knees before God and in His Word; praise Him for His wisdom.

The Holy Spirit In You

Rom 8_9

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” (Romans 8:9). It is not required for anyone to have to beg for the Holy Spirit; it is a free gift bestowed on every believer who receives Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. It is the Spirit of God who marks us and makes us His child. If you are born again, you are indwelt with the Holy Spirit, and He is ready to fill you and control your life. All you have to do is to be yielded to Him. Submit yourselves to the Lordship of Christ and allow Him to be Lord of your life.
